There's one more reason to make small prints, and it's close to my heart. If you've ever doubted what you're doing, seeing your work printed will grant a little faith in yourself and your images. There's something about seeing them real and tangible (even if they're small) that makes them seem more worthy of the attention you hope they'll be paid.
