Kent County Councillor, Karen Constantine appeared on BBC Sunday Politics South East to highlight the plight of thousands of women, forced to give up their children for adoption. The practice was at its height in the UK from the 1950s to the 1970s. Karen was one of the many young women packed off to a mother and baby home so that the 'shame' of her teenage, out-of-wedlock pregnancy could be hidden. Whilst working on her memoir 'Rattlechops', Karen learnt of the scale of the forced adoption practices and has subsequently started writing a book to tell the tales of women and adopted children whose lives have been impacted. This clip from BBC Sunday Politics South East was aired on 14 January 2024. To learn more, visit http://motherandbabyhomestories.com/
