Later this year, I’ll be attending my very first LARP—the Brandywine Festival, a full-on Hobbit-themed event. So naturally, I had to start prepping for the coziest, comfiest, most second-breakfast-ready weekend imaginable. What better way to begin than with a Hobbity thrift haul? In this video, come along with me as I scour thrift stores and consignment shops in search of: 🍂 Hobbit-appropriate apparel (corduroy, tweed, velvet... oh my!) 🍄 Cozy tent decor and glamping gear 🍞 In-game kitchen tools and soup-friendly crockery 🧺 Trinkets, lanterns, forager baskets, and unexpected treasures Plus, I share my LARP thrift wish list, fit checks, and ideas for how to make everyday items feel more Shire-worthy. Will I find the perfect pair of Hobbit boots? Do I impulse-buy a Sentro knitting machine? Did I go a bit overboard? Probably. But it was all in the name of immersive fantasy storytelling. 🔍 Stick around ‘til the end for a full haul + outfits, and let me know in the comments what you think about the shoes (are they hobbity enough?), whether I should’ve bought that one thing, and—most importantly—your favorite soup recipes. 🥣 🧙♂️ Subscribe if you want to follow the rest of my journey into Hobbit LARP life, costume builds, cozy fantasy crafting, and more! #HobbitLARP #ThriftHaul #LARPprep #BrandywineFestival #Cottagecore #FantasyCostume #HobbitStyle #Hobbitcore #ThriftWithMe ⚔️ To Support Making Hannah ⚔️ 👍🏻 Like 🤍 Subscribe ☕️ Donate on Ko-Fi: ko-fi.com/makinghannah 🛒 Store: makinghannah.com 🍄 Follow me: -- Instagram - instagram.com/makinghannah -- TikTok - tiktok.com/@makinghannah ⚔️ Music Credit ⚔️ Epidemic Sound ⚔️ Transcription (limited by character count) ⚔️ In the wise words of one Mr. Bilbo Baggins, I'm going on an adventure. I'm going home of adventure. Later this year, I get to attend my very first LARP, the Brandywine Festival, which happens to be a Hobbit LARP. So, since I'll probably spend some time in the coming months crafting my own hobbity apparel and gear, I thought I would take you on a thrifting adventure today, just to see what we can knock off my list of needs for camping and roleplaying. Okay, while I'm a firm believer in only going thrifting with just an open heart and an open mind, I do have a list of things that I'm hoping to spot. It's not a shopping list—it's a manifestation. I still plan to approach each thrift store with the same reverence and respect that an Irwin would approach a crocodile or other wildlife. Saurrr... let's see what we can find. My hobbity thrift list is broken down into a few different sections: apparel, accessories, camping gear, decor, and entertainment. I definitely want to try and find some proper Hobbit trousers, especially if I can find some that are pleated. I’m also keeping an eye out for waistcoats and blazers—I feel like tweed, corduroy, and linen are going to be the main fabrics I’ll be drawn to. Bonus points if I can find some velvet versions of those items. I'm also going to be on the hunt for some hobbity shoes. You might be thinking, “Oh, hobbits don’t wear shoes,” but you’d be wrong. The Stoor hobbits, like Smeagol, typically wore boots. Look it up. I'm specifically looking for some leather boots with a more square toe and avoiding anything with zippers. Any extra adornment like buckles or Hobbit-esque leather details would be great too. To make existing in the game a bit easier, I’m also looking for in-game appropriate utensils and kitchenware—wooden spoons and stoneware mugs. The more homemade-looking, the better. Also, I figured it out. Men are so sad these days because they’re not allowed to laugh and love, only live. I’ll need things for my tent that add some character: lanterns, storage options like baskets and trunks, maybe even some hanging plants or dried herbs. I’m also looking for cozy things that still fit the bill—blankets, quilts, rugs, pillows—things that make my tent feel in character while still being comfortable. Hobbits definitely glamp. Okay, that was a great first stop. I'm really excited to show you all the trinkets and treasures I picked up, but there are still a seemingly infinite number of items I’m keeping an eye out for. And that was just the first stop. I've got a couple more stores I want to hit up, but before I do that, I need some sustenance and hydration. So let's take care of that first. My second stop definitely had more to offer in the tent decor arena, including this interesting piece. Does anybody know what it is? Get in the comments if you do. I didn’t end up getting it, but should I have? Same goes for all of the stuff—if you see something I missed, let me know. I will go back for it. I’ll of course show you everything I did end up getting at the end of the video. I think it’s worth saying that I am trying to be mindful as I shop, ensuring that anything I do buy is something I’m going to use in my day-to-day life outside of the Hobbit LARP. So when I look at a jewelry case or a pair of shoes...
