Training a Mini Pig to Quiet

You can teach a mini pig to be quiet when asked. Pigs are noisy. They will never be quiet pets, but they don’t need to be screaming or demanding food or attention. Getting loud isn’t the best way to get attention to we teach “quiet” or use your “inside voice” to teach no screaming. Reward the silence even if it’s just a split second. Praise and reward quickly. Eventually those split seconds of quiet will get longer and longer. You can just use a happy praise to reward when your pig starts making that connection between the word or cue “quiet” and the act of being quiet along with the treat. Eventually this can be used at mealtime, when you are on the phone, when you are needing your screaming or screeching pig to remember their manners. Shh! Quiet! Training is fun and rewarding.
