Here we go. 4th and final level in the Infrared series, 4 minutes of awesomeness brought to you after years of hard work by 40+ people. We hope you'll enjoy this level! Below are my thoughts about it and the 6 previous years of my life. This level really has been a long time coming. Late 2016; Gammaray was still being built (I actually had a designated part in that!) and in order to get the level out fast since it had been in limbo for a really long time, stardust1971 (the host) decided to cut out a few creators, which included me. In return, as he wasn't interested with the playing nor creating sides of the game, he gave me the last level in the Infrared series, told me I could do whatever I wanted to with it. It would be my second work as a host, the first being Subterranean Animism uploaded by EVW. There was already a drafted version of this level that star provided using ParagonX9's "Close Combat" (https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/list...) but it had only one decorated part by xcy7 and the rest of the creators seemed uninterested in the level. With that in mind, I decided to start on a blank slate and do something new. The first choice for the song was another song by ParagonX9, "Defection" (https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/list...) but that song was very short and did not seem to interest that many creators I first contacted. The name of the level was already decided so I was looking for a song that would give off those cosmic vibes, then I remembered "Chaoz Airflow" and figured it was the most fitting choice. I never thought it would become this big. What first started as a 2 minute level in my head quickly became a 4 minute long one. I treated this project like my most treasured level and invited my favourite creators in a single place. But there were a lot, way too many for 2 minutes, so I decided to use the full song instead. That would set up my biggest mistake with the level. But let's continue. Between 2017 and early 2019, the level was slowly built by this fine crew of gameplay makers and decorators I put together. While that in itself is a long time to build a level, I really wanted creators to feel like they were in control of their parts as I had already experienced the kind of crunch creators have to go through sometimes to get their parts done, which I wanted none of. Thus, I gave them the time they needed, even if it took them literal years; they were my favourite creators, time was something I was willing to sacrifice to have them in. Once all the parts were done, the mistake I spoke of earlier came into play. You see, people built freely with all their creativity and built on separate copies so everyone could build at the same time, to their own rhythm, thus, they spared no expense; objects, color channels, groups. The last of those 3 would be a massive issue. When I first started putting the level together, we ran out of groups at the ~65% mark. Which was bad—very bad. Late 2019, while I was merging the parts and recycling groups, life caught up to me as well; it was a time of struggle and of pain, none of which helped being productive. Thus, in 2020, the level would end up in limbo. I'd try to get back to it a few times, but to no avail. I could not get myself to open the game. I felt ashamed for putting all these creators together and not even managing to get the level out. I felt ashamed that my pride in this game would stay unfinished because I was struggling with myself. I cannot describe the pressure—be it from myself or creators who rightfully wanted news. It stayed that way for around a year when, by luck, Floppy would ask me if he could help with the level. I knew he had worked with Viprin before so I figured I could trust him and I gave him full power over the level. I provided him the parts, the gameplay (which ‪@Metalface221‬ kindly put together for me, thanks again bro) and, just like with creators, gave him time. Two years later; the level is done. Finally. I cannot thank Floppy enough for saving the level and me alongside with it.
