Episode 30 – Upgrading the Hornby Intercity 125 HST: From TTS to TXS In this episode we take a deeper, more technical look at upgrading sound and performance on the Hornby BR Farewell Tour Inter‑City 125 HST (R3957 train pack plus seven coaches), first featured in Episode 24. The model originally came with factory‑fitted TTS Valenta sound decoders, but today we replace them with the latest TXS decoders, enhanced bass speakers and power packs. A major focus of the episode is the Hornby HM7000 app on iPad — how to onboard and assign a brand‑new TXS decoder, configure its settings, and then combine two decoders into a consist for fully synchronised HST operation. We walk through the whole process step‑by‑step, from installation to final testing. A satisfying technical upgrade that transforms both the sound and the running quality of this iconic HST.
