Nitish Kumar To Join Rajya Sabha, Bihar To Get New Chief Minister, BJP To Lead State | India Today

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on social media that he will be moving to the Rajya Sabha and a new government will be formed in Bihar with his full support and guidance. Kumar, who has been Bihar's Chief Minister for nearly 20 years across 10 terms, thanked the people of Bihar for their faith and support. He stated that he desired to become a member of both houses of the legislature and Parliament. Kumar is expected to file his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha at the Vidhan Sabha in Patna. His announcement ends speculation that he was being compelled to move to the upper house. For the first time, Bihar is expected to have a BJP Chief Minister. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, who currently holds the Home portfolio and has worked closely with Kumar, is considered the frontrunner for the post. Other potential candidates include Union Minister Nityanand Rai and minister Dilip Jaiswal.
