Christ is Life is a hopeful, reflective song about what Orthodoxy proclaims at Pascha and every Sunday: death is not “natural,” and Christianity is not mere comfort or coping. Christ came to destroy death—to make even the grave a doorway into Life. This song is inspired by Fr. Alexander Schmemann’s classic work For the Life of the World, especially its vision that Christianity is not escapist religion, but the revelation of Life in Christ—life given, received, and transfigured. In a culture that tries to deny death (or normalize it), this is a reminder that the Gospel is not escape to an “other world,” but the invasion of the Kingdom here and now: communion, resurrection, and the victory of Life. “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life.” 🎧 Lyrics (excerpt): Christ is Life, not just belief— He transforms our pain and grief. Not escape from death’s dark night, But trampling death with resurrection light!
