Smith is one of a new generation of landscape architects at home in the worlds of art, architecture, and urbanism. His work pushes beyond traditional landscape typologies—plaza, street, and garden—toward landscapes that draw on the diverse cultural influences of urban life. Smith’s recent installation work includes the well-received Triennial Wallflowers at the Cooper Hewitt Museum in 2006–07. Charles Waldheim is a Canadian-American architect, urban theorist, and educator. Waldheim’s research examines the relations between landscape, ecology, and contemporary urbanism. He is author, editor, or co-editor of numerous books on these subjects, and his writing has been published and translated internationally. Waldheim is John E. Irving Professor of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. To learn more, visit http://www.gardnermuseum.org/landscap... Filmmaking by Sheridanworks
