INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9:10pm 2-22-26 LOCATION: 10050 Southwest Freeway (Comfort Inn) AREA/CITY: Houston DETAILS: At 9:10pm tonight west side officers responded to a shooting in progress in regards to a male shooting into a hotel room Officers arrived at 9:13pm Upon arrival there were several units on scene and were getting ready to go inside the building when they observed a male coming from the south side of the hotel They observed a male walking towards them with a rifle At that point officers started to give the male verbal commands to drop the weapon Suspect refused and at that point HPD officers discharged their firearms and the suspect was pronounced deceased on the scene A female complainant was found in one of the hotel rooms with a graze wound from gunfire No officers were injured tonight Investigation being conducted by the DAs office, homicide SIU, and RID No history on suspect Unknown what rifle was used Video shows several HPD units on scene including SWAT, a female being placed in a patrol car without handcuffs, numerous shell casings, evidence, evidence markers, and police covering body with white sheet (body not shown in video) HANDLING AGENCIES: HPD SOT(s): HPD Chief Menendez Shot By: Adam B.
