Ethan Leinwand - Blame It On The Blues (Ragtime Piano 1914)

Here's Chas Cooke's "Blame It On The Blues", a great bluesy rag from 1914. There is so much wonderful ragtime music from the first decades of the 20th century, and while Scott Joplin is rightfully the most remembered, let's not forget some of the "folksier" composers like Chas Cooke. I give this tune a bit more of a swinging feel than you would have typically heard in the ragtime era. I hope the purists will forgive me... it's just how I like to play it. I was inspired to learn this piece because of the wonderful recordings of Paul Lingle, who achieved a ragtime feel like no other.
