If their labs aren't turning out good work then the quality is obviously suffering. Some companies have more flexibility with doctors. Again, I think choice is key for everything. If there's choice, there's competition. If there's competition, the doctor can go to maybe hundreds of different options that they have. Charlie: They can go to different labs? Daniel: Correct. They're going to send the work to where they're comfortable with because they know it's accurate and they know they can get it back in a timely fashion. Some carriers limit where the doctor can send the work. Charlie: Some of the insurance companies have their own labs and you have to use their lab? How do I know that lab is really good? Daniel: You don't necessarily know. Charlie: So the doctor taking that insurance could only go to that lab and not have the choice? Daniel: In some cases that's correct. Charlie: That doesn't sound like a really good thing. That would not be your recommendation? Daniel: Right. Free choice. If there's no competition, there's no real check on quality. Charlie: And a good vision insurance company would have somebody in-house who really focuses on all of the quality, checking up on how labs are doing, and all that sort of thing? Daniel: Yes, absolutely. They try to monitor everything. Charlie: Things are changing pretty quickly. I'm hearing about digital lenses and all kinds of things. Daniel: Yes. Technology is always changing. What a company offers should be continually growing as well. Charlie: Excellent. - - - - You know you need great vision and eye care is vital.
