Carlos Guastavino is the most popular cultured composer from Argentina. Even he composed popular music for example-the Zamba "La Tempranera", with lyrics by Leon Benarós. Guastavino can be considered the last heir of Julian Aguirre`s salon nationalism (1868-1924) and his style remained totally separated from modernism and experimentalism music of his time. Moreover: his reactionary attitude against searches of new languages that characterized the twentieth century music, faced him away from the salons and music of his homeland. Guastavino was born in the City of Santa Fe, Argentina, on April 5, 1912, he developed his musical career in Buenos Aires and in his later years he returned to his hometown to die there on 29 October 2000. Guastavino studied chemical engineering at the University of Litoral but his musical vocation prevailed and took him - in Buenos Aires, to improve his knowledge of harmony, counterpoint and musical morphology first at the National Conservatory of Music and then with Athos Palma composer and educator (1891 - 1951), who, for its aesthetic position, probably had an influence on his decision to enlist himself in the musical nationalism and discard the vanguard and experimentation. While Carlos Guastavino composed several works for orchestra, his production was guided towards chamber music but mainly toward solo songs and choral works. He composed over 150 songs, and some of them such as "Little town my town", "The Rose and the Willow" and "The dove was wrong" achieved a wide circulation, both locally and internationally. Another substantial part of his production are his piano works, some very popular as his "Bailecito" which has gone through countless editions. He also composed several guitar works . As a pianist, Guastavino followed the path of composers such as Chopin, performing recitals with his works only. "Rosita Iglesias" is the 7th piece of a series of 9 works in which Guastavino evokes so delightfully sensitive way to people who passed through his life. The first five pieces are for piano and the other for various chamber instrumental combinations (For example, the 6th, " Jeromita Linares " is for guitar and string quartet). "Plain", published in 1950, was dedicated to the great Polish-Mexican violinist Henryk Szeryng (1918-1988). Intérpretes : Pablo Saraví, violín, y Alicia Belleville, piano
