Early 2014. Melbourne. New psychiatrist, same approach = Zoloft then Lexapro then Effexor. Then combining Lex and Effex together. Of course, none of it works, it just leaves me near-suicidal. Just like the first time I was hammered with these drugs in 2008. My GP (doctor) sends me for a Pharmacokinetics test. Pharmacokinetics is the study of how the body interacts with medications. The test results show SSRIs (Zoloft and Lexapro) are least effective (FML!), and SNRIs and TeCAs are most effective. The GP prescribes me Pristiq and Cymbalta (SNRIs), and then Avanza (TeCAs), over separate eight-week intervals. The side effects are less brutal than the SSRIs but none of the three tablets help with the fatigue. Then my mum makes a suggestion - It's time to stop with the psychiatrists; It's time to take a different path.
