The word "supervolcano" is used to describe volcanoes which have produced the world's largest explosive eruptions, which at a minimum eject hundreds of cubic kilometers of volcanic rock in a single eruption. One of these supervolcanoes just happens to be located in Argentina, which produced the fifth largest volcanic eruption in the history of the planet. Known as Cerro Galan, this supervolcano is not extinct but merely dormant as it still contains an underlying magma chamber.
