It is very much a “what you see is what you get” year, with the wines showing remarkable consistency between the En Primeur stage and their bottled performance. The vintage combines elegance with ripeness in harmonious balance. I would describe it as Bordeaux’s “Neo-Classicism” — a classic vintage that interprets the region’s traditional character through the lens of modern craftsmanship. My overall assessment of the vintage stands at four stars ★★★★. The true value of Bordeaux 2023 is still far from being fully recognized by the market. Much like 1983 in the shadow of 1982, or 2001 alongside 2000, I believe that with time, it will gradually reveal its gentle radiance to the world.
