Making a Pole Lathe Treadle Assembly

How to make the treadle for a pole lathe - this is an adjustable treadle so that by kicking it, the treadle cord moves from one side to the other. This makes pole lathing far easier, and is a very worthwhile refinement over a basic fixed treadle. I had been using a standard fixed treadle for some time, but always found it awkward to move the driving cord along the piece of turned work as it meant moving the whole treadle assembly. A number of my Bodger friends - see bodgers.org.uk use adjustable treadle assemblies, so I decided to have a go at making one. At the same time I also increased the size of my treadle board, so that it stays in place and does not sink into soft woodland floors. Just as well really, as the first time I used the new assembly, the ground was so wet, that we had to put straw down to stop us all sinking into the mud! You cannot really see it in the video, but we were floating on the water at this particular event - hence the straw! The new assembly is very much better and I would highly recommend it.
