My journey to build an EarthBag Dome in Kenya | Eco building

After Asia, Kenya was my first destination in Africa. Within few weeks, I was asked to design and build an Adobe construction. Based on the climate and land, I decided Earthbag dome, would be the perfect solution. This technic, first introduced by an Iranian-American architect named Nader khalili. In this method of eco building, you put earth into bags, and make the whole building in shape of a dome. It's super efficient, cheap, locally accessible and has great benefits specially in warm climates. This was my first attempt to build and earthbag dome, and I am grateful that this opportunity was given to me by my host, Irmgard. During construction, many people from all over the world, contributed their time to build this, and I was very lucky to work with them side by side. Unfortunately, my visa was running out, and I couldn’t finish the project before I left, but I hope, the project continues until it’s fully done. Also, we tried to use whatever we had available in the site, and many things can be done differently in other climates and situations.
