In IVF, the timing of embryo development can play a big role in success. Many couples wonder — is it better to transfer on Day 3, Day 4, or Day 6? This short video explains why timing matters and what studies reveal. Day 3 Embryos :- Usually have 6–8 cells, but we don’t yet know if chromosomes are normal. Transfers at this stage may have lower success compared to blastocyst transfer. Day 4 Embryos :- If an embryo reaches the blastocyst stage by Day 4, that’s a great sign. Research shows about 62% are chromosomally normal, making them healthier, stronger, and more likely to implant. Day 6–7 Embryos :- Slower to develop. Only about 21% are chromosomally normal. Success is possible, but chances are lower compared to Day 4 embryos. What this means for IVF couples The timing of when an embryo becomes a blastocyst may help doctors select the best embryos for transfer, not just based on how they look. ✅ Always discuss with your fertility doctor about embryo growth timing. ✅ Earlier blastocyst development often signals better embryo quality.
