South Africa has been grappling with the contentious issue of immigration for a considerable time. The nation's affluence, developed industries, and generous legal rights for foreign nationals, at least theoretically, have made it an attractive choice for migrants from various African countries since the apartheid era ended. Consequently, it now accommodates a larger number of migrants than any other African country. However this seems to be changing. In November of last year, the South African government declared that it would cease renewing the 178,000 Zimbabwe Exemption Permits it had previously granted. The Department of Home Affairs launched the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) in 2017 with the objective of legalizing the residency of unregistered Zimbabweans in South Africa. This means that Zimbabwes who are undocumented will have to go back home. Zimbabweans residing in South Africa are expected to return soon, following the announcement last year by the neighboring country that it will not be renewing special permits for Zimbabweans who do not possess critical skills. President Mnangagwa wrote in his weekly column that over 178,000 Zimbabweans, along with their families and dependents, are expected to return home from South Africa after the Zimbabwe Exemption Permits (ZEP) expires in June of this year. The Zimbabwean government has established a portal through its Embassy in South Africa for Zimbabweans to register their whereabouts and needs in preparation for the repatriation exercise. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✅SUPPORT US /AFFILIATE LINKS Use this affiliate link for your purchases at #MIZIZI International - https://bit.ly/3hajEY9 Support our channel - PayPal: newafricachannel(at)outlook.com Follow us on Instagram - / thenewafricachannel Follow us on Twitter - / thenewafricach1 Join us on Facebook - / thenew.africachannel.3 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✅COPYRIGHT DISCLAIMER The New Africa Channel doesn't fully own some of the materials compiled in its videos.
