A 1957 Chevrolet Corvette that Kindig-It Design had at The Grand National Roadster Show 2018...I received the story on the car after I had edited the video...So I have posted part of the email as the description: A Family Affair The story for this Corvette starts back in 1965 when my father purchased this future piece of history. He discovered this Yellow Corvette on a dealers lot and had to have it; it was purchased for $ with a monthly payment of $ which my parents struggled to pay on a monthly basis. We have all been there, right? Bought something that was not usable on a daily basis because you live in Utah and it does snow, and sports cars are not meant for the snow. Obviously, this was not a family car either with only two seats and no room for a baby. My father kept the Corvette and would work on it from time to time he went to the local trade tech schools to learn about repairing and restoring vehicles from welding to upholstery he learned it all. In 1982 my father’s passion increased to the next level, and he decided it was time to have his Corvette in the the Salt Lake City Autorama. Like all Hot Rodders, the decision was made about a month before the show. I guess all my Dad needed was an unrealistic deadline to finally give this Corvette the finishing touches it needed like paint! So for a solid month, my father worked hours in the garage after a full day of working his regular job at the Power Company painting, polishing and upholstering the Corvette . All that hard work paid off he placed 2nd place in his class, and we were all thrilled for his accomplishments. Over the next several years the Corvette was put away in the garage and was only taken out in the Summertime to be entered in our town’s parade or for family parties where my Dad would take us for rides up and down the street. Dave and I decided we needed to change that . As some of you may know Dave, and I started our shop back in June of 1999 in our home out of our garage. My father and mother were very helpful and supportive at this time.For this, we felt we wanted to give back and restore to them one of their first passions in life, their Corvette.We set out to do this project and wanted our children and my Father to be involved in helping to restore this family project. We started off strong and had a great time disassembling and reminiscing the days of being in the backyard working on his many other projects. Once the disassembly was complete, and the body was sent to media blast we realized the Corvette was it much rougher shape than we anticipated. This was no longer a scuff and shoot project it needed a full makeover. We gave Jerry C owner of Corvette Image a call to get a new front clip and rear quarter. A few body modifications were done to be sneaky such as pulling the front and rear bumpers into the body and shaving any hardware showing. The exhaust tips that pass through the rear bumper were increased to 3” and look factory . The headlights were modified by use of custom headlamp assemblies from Greening Auto Company and had threaded trim rings with no exposed hardware. H4 Maxtel bulbs are in use now with the turn signals hidden inside. We removed the stock turn signal housings off the front fenders to give it the style needed. A set of Kindig-it Smooth Classic Door Handles were installed as well as a new Gas cap replacing the old gas door that never fit well on first-generation Corvettes. The Corvette sits on an Art Morrison Chassis with custom IFS and a Ford 9” rear axle from Strange Engineering featuring 13.5” 6-piston Wilwood Brakes. With all fuel and brake lines custom build from polished stainless which looks awesome holding an LS7 Lingenfelter engine with 670 horsepower and backed with a 4L80E GM transmission from Bowler Transmission. Topped with Borla Eight Stack Injection and stainless exhaust and mufflers from Borla to give that one of a kind sound . Rolling around on 19” and 20” one-off wheels designed by Dave and built by Billet Specialties. The tires are Michelin Pilot from The Tire Rack and were sent to Diamond Back Classics for the Redline treatment. Only the best of the best would do for Dad’s Corvette so we sourced the best of the best parts for this restomod. Vintage Air for the A/C, American Autowire wiring harness, Kicker Car Audio for the tunes, Nu-Relics for the power windows, Lokar though in the killer new shifter and trim for the exterior and the door panels, Dakota Digital first issue HDX gauges, Crestleather for the China Red leather upholstery, Billet Specialties Tru-Trac accessory drive, Koch’s 15” 1955 BelAir steering wheel which we modified. Ogden Chrome did all the parts in Triple plate show chrome. Kindig-it body shop did many long hours to smooth the body and finished off this final piece of art with coats of AkzoNobel's Black Hole Black, Modern Classikk by Kindig. Polishing for hundreds of hours would ensure the finish was fitting to be called a Kindig-it project.
