Our Local Robins starting building a nest 10 foot up in the ivy on the 7/3/25. Robina (Mrs. Robin) may have finished making her nest late morning 10/3/25. She left the nest alone and did not return till 6:30 am on till lust after 6 am 11/3/25. After an hour on the nest in the early morning she left the first egg at 7:07am. She returned on the 12/3/25 at 6:50 and we saw the second egg at 6:46 as she left the nest. Our local egg eating cat seems to have worked out where they are - I don't know how because they have not been near the nest while it's been in the garden! It jumped up the jasmine trellis that lies near where the nest is and was creeping along the top towards just under the nest. If it found the right spot and could stand up on the trellis it may reach the nest. I put some mesh along the top of the trellis to try and stop it Robina returned to the nest at 5:50 am and by 7:01am the 3rd egg arrived. This time after a short break she returned to the nest and started sitting. She sat on the eggs till 8:46am and then left - was she giving the eggs a quick warm before going away for the day? We shall see.. Robina returned at 5:59am on the 14/3/25 and by 7 am we had the 4th egg! After 40 mins she was off again and stayed away from the nest, only to return at 6:41 pm to sit on the nest overnight She sat on the eggs all night of the 14//3/ 25 until 5:26am and went off again at dawn. After returning at 7:44 am and, after an hour, we suddenly have 5 eggs! Robina pops of the nest every now and again, and on 15/3/25 Mr Robin , named 'Robin Ronin' , started popping in to feed her - example at 11:39am On 16/3/25 on a very cold morning she left the nest at 5:42 am till 1:02 pm. We thought she had abandoned the nest! Certainly in the afternoons she seems to spend about 50 - an hour on the nest then goes for a approx. 8 minute break.. 17/3/25 Seems a more normal pattern - off the nest at 5:38 am for 8 mins and then again 30 mins later. With a following wind the eggs may hatch on 27/28 March. Its the 27th today - will we see chicks ?
