After nearly a month of final work on the walls of the extension we have almost finished transforming then. First, we continue work on two old openings on one side. For one 'filled-in' opening, we remove the bricked in parts and rebuild the edges to create a new window. The other opening does not have very strong edges and so we are returning this part to being a wall. We have to remove the bricked in parts and then build up the inside with new stronger bricks. We then rebuild the exterior of the opening with stones. When the openings are complete, we then need to repair more sections of the wall with new stones and mortar. The front wall also required some final tidying up, but once both the side and front wall work is complete we are able to take down the scaffolding. And then for the first time we can clearly see how this part of the house will look in the future. As a reminder of just how much these walls have been transformed I share and talk about earlier photos of these walls. From a mess of different materials with random and derelict features, a new clean stone wall has emerged. We then had time for starting work on some new openings on other walls, which required some preparation during the week. - - - - chapters - - - - 00:00 intro 00:27 setting up 05:15 stones chat 10:00 morning 2 12:17 corner stones 14:55 windows 17:05 morning 3 20:19 afternoon 22:28 morning 4 25:13 tidying & measures 27:51 photos of the past 30:59 the present 33:32 morning 5 36:43 aerial view 40:46 outro - - - - about my channel and its videos - - - - My channel is about the renovation and restoration of an old stone house on a hill in Catalunya (North East of Spain). The house is near the Costa Brava and has magnificent views of the forest around it and the Mediterranean Sea. The house has many beautiful old features, including its stone walls, vaulted ceilings, ancient terracotta tiles and many quirky parts added over the centuries. At the moment, I am working on the house on my own as I try to turn it into a dream home in harmony with the nature and culture that surrounds it. The house is not in France or Italy and is not a Chateau or Cabin, but I watch and am inspired by channels that are. Especially Martijn Doolaard and Dan Preston's Escape to Rural France. I love Martijn's style, philosophy and cinematography and Dan's energy, humour and ambition. I'm trying to include some of these attributes in my videos.
