Back From Rainbow Lake | A Full Week at Fensmere Fish Farm & Carp Fishing Lakes in France

After returning from an incredible two-week session at Rainbow Lake, it was straight back into reality — all hands on deck at Fensmere Fish Farm and Fensmere Carp Fishing Lake. This week was all about lake management, fish welfare, and getting countless small but vital jobs done, which is just part of life when you’re running working carp lakes in France. The fish were feeding hard across the lakes, but the week also highlighted ongoing predator pressure, including a rare and eye-opening moment watching a cormorant walk into the lake, catch a small carp, and attempt to leave with it — proving just how intelligent and adaptable these birds are, even with predator ropes and wires in place. Later in the week, I headed over to help my good friend Lee Gray from Brothers Lake, just east of Limoges, as he collected hand-picked carp from Benoit. Using my transport tanks and aeration systems, we carefully selected some outstanding fish — and it was fantastic to catch up with Benoit and see some truly special carp in one of his out-site ponds. I also want to put the word out to lake owners in the Limoges area.
