It was my honour that I was among those invited by the Ineco Auto S.p.A./Ferrari to a test drive event for the Ferrari 296 GTS at the Varano de' Melegari racetrack (Autodromo di Varano de' Melegari) in Italy. I was driving the 296 GTS with the special Assetto Fiorano package which gives the possibility to exploit the car’s extreme power and performance to the utmost. The Ferrari 296 GTS is mid-rear-engined two-seater, a Plug-in-Hybrid sports car, powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine which generates a maximum output of 663 horsepower at 8.000 rpm in a combination with a 167 horsepower electric motor. The car is rated at a total output of 830 horsepower. The sports car is capable of accelerating from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and sprints from 0-200 km/h in just 7 6 seconds, the top speed is specified as over 330 km/h The Ferrari 296 GTS is the evolution of Ferrari’s mid-rear-engined two-seater berlinetta 296 GTB. The Ferrari 296 GTB, fitted with the Assetto Fiorano pack, which comes with Multimatic adjustable shocks and several weight-saving features which make it a more track-focused weapon than its normal, base variant sibling, is the fastest road-going Ferrari ever on the Nordschleife, Nürburgring. Germany’s Nurburgring is one of the most challenging race circuits in the world (20.8-kilometer). The 296 GTB is also the first-ever Ferrari to set a timed lap on the North Loop of the Nurburgring of under seven minutes, with the stopwatch showing 6:58.7 minutes, about two seconds faster than the next Ferrari on the list, the 488 Pista. The Varano racetrack is about 25 km from Parma and is one of the excellence spots of Emilia Romagna’s Motor Valley with over 40 years of experience in the world of racing. An unforgettable date for the Autodrome in Varano de’ Melegari was in 1976 when it was organized a challenge among the most famous Formula 1 drivers, at that time, in which Niki Lauda, Clay Regazzoni, Emerson Fittipaldi, Depailler, Schekter and many others showed up their driving skills to the public. Since 1991 former Formula 1 driver Andrea De Adamich has established in Varano the Safe Guide International Center, which regularly runs courses with Alfa Romeo and Maserati cars. The racetrack has a length of 2.350 meters and runs along a total of 14 curves, 6 on the right and 8 on the left. Please follow me on Instagram: @brankokrznaric / @lanibra.cars.
