Between the two, I definitely prefer safety razors over cartridge razors. The biggest thing I like about safety razors are that the blades are extremely inexpensive. It's almost shocking how inexpensive they are. The second thing I like about them is that you can shave longer lengths of hair with less clogging than a cartridge razor. Other people like to shave with them because they don't experience as much irritation with safety razors as they do with cartridge razors. Even though they're called safety razors, the biggest downside is that there is a learning curve to them and you are more prone to nick yourself with them than a cartridge razor. However, the more you shave with them, the more experience you get, and the less you nick yourself.
