Replace broken glass top table with redwood for cheap

In this project I used 2 fence boards which are 4.25 each and replaced the broken glass area of a coffee table with the redwood. They are sanded smooth so could be used indoors or out and you don't need to buy expensive wood to get high level finish. To make cut to width and edge with table saw so the rough finish will glue more closely. Lay out until they fit. Match pattern and using finer grain boards will have a better look. Use a cleat on back glue all joints and on cleat then pneumatic nail to hold together while drying (you could also screw or nail from back). If you have a curved edge as I did make a pattern out of wrapping paper and lay on oversized wood and trim with jig saw. Sand with 80 grit belt sander until rough cut wood is smoothed out then switch to 180. The edges are rounded over with a router but you can round with sand paper instead. Finish with clear topcoat urethane to bring out color. Materials 2- 3/4" 5.5"x6' redwood fence boards. Cost 8.50 total.
