3D Seismic data acquisition in the Partitioned Zone between Saudi and Kuwait (Documentary) 2014-2016

Documentary of the 3D Seismic data acquisition survey in the Partitioned Zone between Saudi and Kuwait, executed by WesternGeco WesternGeco accomplished acquiring seismic data at both sides of the border with a single Kuwait based seismic crew under the Operations Management of Gerrit Schol. This was a very unique but stressful accomplishment... This project was politically and operationally very challenging!!! The Partitioned Zone (PZ) is the region between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia that was created as an area of neutral sovereignty in 1922. Following the discovery of oil at Wafra in the 1950s the two states agreed to the common ownership of the zone's natural resources. Still, there is a fenced border in the middle with the usual very strict restrictions and associated complications (to express this mildly😳) Area coverage was 4,600 km2 and the 3D was acquired using WesternGeco's single sensor system Uniq. Total life spread was equivalent to 1800 linear kms, with a sensor planted every 12.5m (144,000 sensors/channels) WesternGeco hired a professional crew to record our achievements in this documentary.
