The Truth About Homeless Teens In Minnesota

If you need housing, food, or health services visit here: https://www.hsra.org/gethelp Students at the High School for Recording Arts (HSRA) came together to produce a powerful series of three videos that shine light on the root intersections of youth homelessness: Long-Term Housing & Access to Resources Career Readiness in Technical, Creative & Cybersecurity Trades College Readiness – North Star Promise & Financial Aid Guided by HSRA faculty and in partnership with the Catalyst for Systems Change, students researched, discussed, and explored these vital topics. They then took the lead in scripting, recording, filming, and editing youth-friendly videos designed to connect their peers with real solutions and resources. With grant funding from the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Legislature, students were also compensated through hourly wages and stipends for their work. This support not only gave them economic access, but also helped them gain highly transferable career skills in research, media production, and storytelling as well as academic credit towards earning a high school diploma. The videos aim to provide accessible information on housing, hunger, mental well-being, career pathways, and college opportunities—delivered in the authentic voices of young people who understand these challenges firsthand.
