LARCH began discussions of what might be needed to journey outside the city to the druid grove. Transportation dominated the conversation, since we were city dwellers, we relied on the Brassline or ships to get us where we needed to go. This was going to be different... Reyes started to the stable and I followed suit, along with Cork and Agnis. Reyes began talking to the stablemaster, who was immediately put off by Reyes, and by the end of their talk, the stablemaster all but threw him out, refusing to sell him a horse. My chat with the stablemaster went much better; we discussed my needs. The stablemaster who cares deeply for the horses, interviewed me to make sure I could and would take care of any horse sold to me...and of course I would! He first showed me a beautiful golden Palomino, a stunning horse, and I could tell he was gentle and would be easy to ride, but it didn't feel right. That horse was destined for a gentlemanly rider or a child. I asked the stable master if he had anything else...something a little bigger, solid, and because we may be getting into some trouble -- a smart horse with a little attitude. He walked me back with a warning; he had a horse with a temper and is difficult to ride until you got to know him. It was then that I locked eyes with the biggest horse I'd ever seen...and the most beautiful. Peeking from his stall and snorting with pent up frustration, there stood Dewmi. A name I gave him because his hair glistened like it was wet with morning dew. I led Dewmi out to the courtyard and walked him around, brushing him, offering him a snack and I knew we were more than horse and rider. This horse was a member of the party. Cork and Agnis were also successful...Agnis found herself a great hairy Mastiff and Cork found a donkey...both practical choices for our needs. Finally, we purchased a small cart. I tipped the stablemaster and asked that he prepare Dewmi and I would return in a few days to pick him up for our journey.
