Police have arrested 20 suspected Militants with links to Abu Sayyaf, Daesh and Jamaah Ansharut Daulah terror groups over the past few weeks. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the suspects were detained by the Bukit Aman special branch counter Terrorism division between November 30th and December 15th. In a statement, he said 7 Malaysians, 7 Filipinos, 5 Indonesians and a nothern African were nabbed in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Johor and Selangor. Among them, a 24 year old Indonesian man who is the senior leader of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah terror group, was the first to be arrested in Pontian on November 30th. The suspect who was involved in last July's Bandung Bombing, is believed to have been collecting funds before planning to head to Syria. Meanwhile, six Malaysians and five Filipinos were arrested on December 10th in Sandakan for involvement with a terror group in southern Philippines. The north African man who was involved with the Daesh group was arrested at KLIA on December 15th. The suspect was previously arrested in Turkey in September last year for being involved in terror activities in Iraq and Syria. He entered Malaysia in early December this year from a neighbouring country and was arrested through a foreign enforcement agency intelligence. All suspects were detained under the security offences act (Special Measures) SOSMA 2012.
