I've been flying the Explorer for a few weeks now and have taken it out in all kinds of conditions from a fair breeze (8 knots or so) to dead air. I'm pretty much a slope only flyer and this model is simply stunning. One of my all time favourites. It indicates lift better than anything I've flown and the big flying surfaces give ultimate control. I've set up crow brakes (butterfly) on this model with full down deflection on the flaps, just about 90°, and full up on the ailerons, about 50°. This allows for 60° nose down descent without picking up airspeed and a very slow terminal velocity in 90° dives. Simply stunning. This day was blowing about 5 knots and you can see the model was hovering in the lift really nicely. It was very turbulent air on this day combined with a high pressure system making for pretty horrible flying conditions. This hill is in the South Western part of the UK and is called Haresfield Beacon. The rotor behind the hill is well known and makes lading difficult as you can see from the video
