https://zebr.co/disclaimer/ In this video, we explore the profound connections between personal identity, and the mechanisms of our internal states. By working with the whole person—mind, body, and soul—we delve into the intersection of individual experience, social theory, and the physical elements of early shutdown states such as catatonia, inertia, and immobilization. What do these states afford us? How do they shape our personal and social identities? Using concepts from Integral Theory, we examine how our internal states allow us to be ourselves, break through glass ceilings, and redefine what is possible. This is a journey into the essence of what it means to be human: Who can I be in this body? What does it mean to be a self? How does consciousness emerge from the intricate interplay of our internal mechanisms? Join us as we uncover how working with the whole person opens doors to understanding identity, agency, and the deeper questions of existence. (caveat) It is hard to navigate these spaces without language. Often we use 'trauma' as language, which often doesn't fit, as often we do not have a reason for the states we find ourselves in (and we have a long history of blaming women, which is ALWAYS a fallacy). However, to be able to start the conversation, which is much more nuanced in the talk., we need to use trauma language as a starting point...but what we are talking about is catatonia, inertia, states of shut-down, involuntary shut-down.... the WHY of these occurances is not the focus of the talk. The NOW is "We are here, what can we do to help?. The questions are also "Who are you? Who are you living in this body? How can we help? and "What are the mechanisms for change?" The language is never going to be just right to encompass all the many people who live in these states. Listen to the talk and see if it resonates. ... Early existential trauma states (birth/pre-birth/post-birth) leave us in states of knowing and states of stuckness that most therapies are not equipped to deal with. Clients are often left bamboozled, exhausted or worse off than when they started. Parents of kids who are shut-down are looking for more answers than just management and scaffolding. Holly Bridges' A.R.T. therapy (Anxiety Reframe Technique) is profound and life-changing for populations that are seen as typically hard to treat. Why are typical therapies less useful in this population? How can we better understand what is happening? What are the ways to create and sustain change? How can we learn to resonate with the beauty of the people in front of us? Please leave any questions in the comments section below and Holly will attempt to answer them in an upcoming FREE WEBINAR on Autism, Catatonia and Inertia - Through the Lens of The Polyvagal Theory.
