The player being sent to Moga to simply be out of the Guilds way, the abandonment of Moga, the story of the chief - all of them are in the game, but much more subtle and superficial, since MH3/3U are not super story focused. A few events from the story are abridged for the sake of time management and pacing. Lagiacrus teeth needing cleaning has no basis in canon and is an idea originated by @TeaCommonShark , an idea I found so cool that I had to include it.
