In March 2021, 21-year-old Dontravious Adair unleashed a violent crime spree across Jacksonville, Florida. It began with the theft of a Mercedes-Benz and a white Lexus from local dealerships. Shortly after, Adair committed two armed convenience store robberies and a takeover-style armed robbery at a VyStar Credit Union, where he disarmed a security guard and fled with stolen cash. His escape triggered a high-speed police chase during which he fired at officers while weaving through traffic. The pursuit ended in a head-on crash that injured a child and an elderly passenger. Adair was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, armed robbery, vehicle theft, and multiple other felonies.
