In this video, we take the Proxmox lab environment we’ve been building and turn it into a full enterprise-style network contained in a single server. Using EVE-NG inside Proxmox, we build a realistic client-to-server topology with switches, routers, firewalls, and a simulated WAN. All components are virtualized, providing hands-on experience without spending thousands of dollars This lab becomes the foundation for future videos where we’ll break down: • How packets move end-to-end through a network • NAT, routing, and security policy behavior • ISP-style WAN routing • Real-world network troubleshooting fundamentals In this video specifically, the focus is on building the lab and validating connectivity, not deep troubleshooting. We will cover that in a later video. ⸻ 🔧 What You’ll Learn • What EVE-NG is and why it’s so powerful for network engineers • Why running EVE-NG as a VM in Proxmox adds flexibility and safety • How to install EVE-NG and the EVE client pack • How to add Cisco IOL/IOU and pfSense images • How to build a realistic enterprise network topology • How to configure basic routing, switching, and firewall connectivity • How to validate end-to-end client-to-server communication ⸻ 🧪 Lab Topology Overview Client (VPC) → Access Switch (Cisco IOL) → Firewall (pfSense) → WAN Router 1 (ISP / PE) → WAN Router 2 (ISP / PE) → Firewall (pfSense) → Application Server (VPC) ⸻ 🕒 Chapters 00:00 Intro 01:03 What is EVE-NG? 02:24 Lab Topology Overview 03:35 Download EVE-NG Installer and Client Pack 03:57 macOS Client Pack Installation 04:21 What is EVE-NG Client Pack? 04:48 Installing EVE-NG on Proxmox 07:17 Download Cisco and pfSense Images 08:25 Copying Images to EVE-NG 10:00 Adding IOL/IOU Images 10:53 Adding QEMU/QCOW2 Images 13:13 Generating Cisco IOU License 15:12 Creating a New Lab 15:28 Adding Cisco Nodes 17:22 Adding pfSense Nodes 19:17 pfSense First-Time Setup 20:14 macOS “No Route to Host” Fix 29:51 Connecting Nodes 31:23 Device Configuration 35:45 Validate Connectivity 37:13 Outro
