First time baking the Berry Napoleon Cake, vlogging, and adding on so many cute animation effects! Overall, I think I am heading to a good direction for my videos and hope that you like it! About the Cake Oooh, let's just say I was totally bewildered when I first tried the Very Berry Napoleon Cake from Martha's Country Bakery in New York. I thought it was going to be a heavy creme texture and super sweet, but I was gladly proven wrong! The creme texture was surprising light and the aroma was so captivating. Since trying this cake, I went back a few times just to eat it and bought so many takeouts for my friends and family! (This really was not sponsored at all LOL, I just love this cake so much) The unfortunate thing is that this bakery is really far from where I live and I couldn't drive there all the time. Therefore, I decided to make it at home on my own! I searched multiple recipes online and settled with this one from APPRENDRELAPATISSERIEFRANCAISE (link below). Napoleon is a French dessert, it's also called Mille Feuille, which translate into "Thousand Layer" because of the crust.    • MILLES FEUILLES   I chose this one because the creme consistency seems to match the most to the one from Martha's judging from the picture. I made some small adjustment because I could not find the Flan Powder mentioned in the video so I increased the proportion of the flour. The end result turned out FABULOUS! It was the right level of sweetness and the combination with fresh berries matched my expectation! The only mishap that I had was that I did not have a hand mixer at the time, so I wasn't able to replicate the creme consistency. So be sure to have one when you try to make this cake at home! I baked this cake for my boyfriend's birthday and he liked it too, so this was a successful attempt at making this delicious cake and I can't wait to try again with the hand mixer! Let me know if you have any feedback on this video, or if you have tried making this recipe at home. I promise you that it's very easy to make! Ingredients: THE CUSTARD CREAM MILK 750 G SUGAR 150 G EGGS 150 G FLOUR 100 G BUTTER 75 G THE PUFF PASTRY There are methods to make the pastry at home, but I resorted to the easiest option available- buying the frozen pastry sheet from the super market. 😂 But it turned out great! THE BERRIES Blue berries, Strawberries, Raspberries. Desirable Amount. Steps for Custard Creme 1. The recipe can be broken down into two parts: making the creme and baking the pastry. 2. Add 1/2 of the measured sugar into the eggs and mix well 3. Add the flour into the eggs and mix well until there are no more lumps 4. Heat up the milk in LOW HEAT, do not let the milk boil 5. Add the other half of the sugar into the milk 6. Add 2 and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extracts and mix well 7. Pour half of the milk into the egg/flour mixture and mix well 8. Pour the mixture back into the milk 9. Swirl with whisk in circular motions for about 10 minutes until the milk thickens 10. Add butter 11. Continue to swirl for another 6 minutes to reach desired consistency 12. Cover the creme with plastic film and chill at room temperature 13. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours 14. After 2+ hours, use a hand mixer to smooth the creme Steps for Puff Pastry 1. Defrost the frozen pastry by microwaving on both side for 15 secs 2. Unfold the pastry on parchment paper and use bread stick to roll the pastry more flat 3. Use a fork to poke holds over the pastry 4. Sprinkle sugar over the pastry evenly 5. Transfer the pastry onto flat pan and cover the pastry with another layer of parchment paper 6. Preheat the oven at 338 F and bake at 15 minutes 7. Place another pan over the pastry (on top of the parchment paper) and place some weight on top 8. Bake at 338 F for another 20 minutes 9. Remove from the oven and putting the cake together 10. Layer the smoothened creme onto the pastry and smear evenly 11. Add the cut berries on top of the creme and then add some more creme over the berries 12. Place another layer of the pasty and repeat one more time Lastly, garnish with some powdered sugar and strawberries! And Wala, there you have it!
