How to Get Started on Clip-In Pedals & Cleats | Clipless Tips For Beginner Cyclists | Jade Seah

Why are they called "Clipless Pedals" when you actually have to clip into them?? I've heard about (and seen!) the horrors and injuries that can ensue when on clipless pedals, and it wasn't pretty. Impatient honks from motorists when unable to clip in quick enough while moving off from red lights, and worse, bloody knees and bad falls from not being able to clip out in time, made me quite certain I would just stick to sneakers and not bother getting on clipless pedals. But then I went for a bike fit where I was clipped in, and found the strokes to be so much more efficient. I realise you can set the tension on the clips, and was determined to learn too. Here's me trying out cleats and clipless pedals for the first time, and filming an impromptu video tutorial on this in the meantime (really unplanned, so excuse the mishmash outfit and the no makeup!). Tried to break it down into an as easy and step-by-step way possible, and I am confident if you follow these steps that you too will be cleating it up on the roads in no time! PS: Still injury-free at the time of typing this. Am loving the efficiency of being on cleats!
