Join me as I set off to hike, backpack and wild camp the breathtakingly beautiful Beacons Way, one of Wales' stunning long distance trails. Join me on a solo, long-distance thru-hike of the Beacons Way in the heart of Wales — a journey filled with wild camps, epic ridgelines, and some of the best weather I could’ve hoped for, even if it was a tad windy! Over several days I followed the Beacons Way trail across the rugged beauty of the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog), pitched the tent in some pretty cool locations, and pushed myself physically and mentally — all to raise money for Help for Heroes, a charity supporting veterans and their families. With clear skies, sweeping views, and ever changing landscapes, this adventure became the perfect place to break in my new Durston X-Mid 1 tent. This took place in the spring of 2025, so there was plenty of new life around! It was also fresh off of the back of my Cape Wrath Trail adventure in the Scottish Highlands, which was also all in the name of charity for Help For Heroes. Part 1 sees me journeying from Abergavenny, through the farmlands of South Wales as I head in to the National Park and towards the mountains. With each passing day, the views and scenery just gets better and better on this one! If you enjoy hiking, wild camping, ultralight gear, or simply love watching these types of adventures in stunning landscapes, I hope you can enjoy this one. 🌄🎒⛺ Needless to say...I had a brilliant time! 📍 Trail: Beacons Way, Wales 🎒 Style: Solo thru-hike & wild camping ⛺ Tent: Durston XMid 1 🎥 Conditions: Incredible weather, clear summits, unforgettable views 🏔 About the Trail: The Beacons Way is an iconic long distance hiking route running approximately 100 miles (161km) across the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. Located in South Wales, it is typically completed in 8-9 days. The trail links together the Park's most dramatic landscapes, including rugged ridgelines, glacial valleys, waterfalls, remote moorland and legendary peaks such as Pen Y Fan, Corn Du and Cribyn. 👍 If you enjoyed the adventure, hit LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE for more hiking and camping content! #thruhike #wildcamping #hikingtrails #hiking #beatone #outdoors #adventure #nature #inthewild #camping #getoutside #explore #wildcamping #ultralighthiking #backcountrycamping #trekking #hikingadventures #backpacking #mountains #scotlandhikes #nationalpark #adventurevlog #BeaconsWay #DurstonXMid #HelpForHeroes #SoloHiking #WalesOutdoors #BackpackingUK #HikingAdventure
