In a shocking case from Mumbai, the murder of Arshad Shaikh, a Deaf man, has taken a new international turn. Arshad was killed in August 2024 in Mumbai’s Pydhonie area, and his body was later found stuffed inside a trolley bag at Dadar railway station. Police investigations revealed that the murder was carried out by Arshad’s two friends, Shivjit Singh and Jay Chavda. The victim’s wife, Rukhsana Shaikh, was also arrested for her alleged involvement, as she was said to be having an extra-marital affair with Chavda and was aware of the plan to kill her husband. Another accused, Jagpalpreet Singh, an Indian national living in Belgium, was accused of provoking the others to commit the crime. All four people involved in the case, including the victim, are Deaf. Belgian authorities questioned Jagpalpreet in October 2024 but refused India’s request to extradite him, as there is no extradition treaty between the two countries. Instead, Belgium decided to hold his trial in Brussels. Recently, Mumbai Police informed the court that a Belgian team including three officers, a judge, a government lawyer, a videographer, and an interpreter would visit India to question the three accused in connection with Jagpalpreet’s trial. The court granted permission, noting that India and Belgium have an agreement for mutual legal cooperation in criminal cases, but stressed that the rights of the accused must be respected during the process. #ArshadShaikh #MumbaiCrime #Belgium #IshNews #MurderCase #DeafCommunity #Justice #LegalNews #InternationalInvestigation #Brussels #TrueCrimeIndia #IndiaSigningHands #ISH #ISHNews #ISL #IndianSignLanguage #SignLanguage #Information #India #Deaf #DeafCulture #DeafCommunity #Awareness #DeafAwareness #IndiaDeaf #DeafIndia #News #NewsChannel #DailyNews #DailyNewsIndia #BreakingNews #NewsAlert #Updates #InstaGood #InstaDaily #Igers ISH News broadcasts the Daily News and Entertainment online in Deaf-friendly accessible formats which are in Indian Sign Language (ISL), visual images with titles, voice-over and closed-captions.
