Sugitho of Abel and Cain (English)

This recording is of the Sugitho (Dialogue) between Cain and Abel, just before Cain kills Abel. This hymn appears in the Third Watch of Midnight Prayers (Lilio)of the Monday of Holy Week. Orthodox Christians in the Syriac Orthodox and in the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church may be familiar with the Sugitho sung on Good Friday, which details the dialogue between the Two Thieves on either side of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as He was nailed on the Cross: (The Song of the Two Thieves "Bhoojathikale Vannethi") Thanks to the painstaking efforts of the Ministry of Liturgical Resource Development (LRD), this hymn along with many others have been translated and versified into English from its original Syriac, to ensure faithful followers of Jesus Christ may be enriched by the rich theology of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
