At night, stone breathes differently. Vaulted ceilings suspend time, narrow passages hold the echo of footsteps, and distant bells mark a pulse older than memory. This session moves through shadowed corridors, silent courtyards, towers rising into mist, and spaces where devotion, study, and solitude once shared the same air. The music remains restrained, deliberate, almost architectural. Silence is structural. Resonance is weight. Each note stands like carved stone against winter fog. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Session #26 - PRAGUE Gothic Jazz This release explores Gothic Modal Jazz shaped by medieval Prague’s atmosphere. Built on slow 4/4 and occasional 3/4 cycles between 48–58 BPM, the session relies on deep double bass pedal tones, brushed percussion, open fourth piano voicings, bass clarinet gravity, restrained soprano sax lines, and low-register violin textures. Dorian and Phrygian modes guide the harmonic language. Isorhythmic patterns and cathedral-like reverb create a focused, immersive environment designed for concentration and nocturnal work. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ TRACK LIST 00:05 The stained glass window of St. Vitus Cathedral 03:56 The statue of Saint John Nepomucene on the Charles Bridge 09:07 The dark Powder Tower 14:12 The asymmetrical towers of the Church of Our Lady before Týn 18:03 The Strahov Monastery Brewery 21:58 The Přemyslid family pantheon in the Basilica of St. George 26:21 The Novoměstská Radnice 30:56 Medieval art in the Convent of Saint Agnes of Bohemia 34:59 Silent conversations with Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana and Jan Neruda at Vyšehrad Cemetery 38:46 The Golem in Old-New Synagogue 42:38 Theodoric's gaze in the Karlštejn Chapel 46:19 The view from the Old Town Bridge Tower 50:25 The aroma of braided bread on Celetná Street 55:43 The Granovský building in Ungelt Courtyard 01:00:36 The ancient globes of the Theological Hall (Strahov Library) 01:04:06 Jiřská Street Gold Alley 01:08:44 Dr. Faust's house on Karlovo Square 01:12:10 A river walk along Na Františku Street 01:15:39 The mosaic of names on Slavín's Tomb 01:19:09 A stately stroll along Pařížská Street ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ABOUT MIDNIGHT BIRDS JAZZ BAND Midnight Birds Jazz Band transforms travel into sound, creating jazz sessions shaped by cities, cultures, and late-night atmospheres. Each release blends contemporary jazz with regional accents, strong groove, and expressive improvisation, designed to accompany focus, work, and reflective moments without losing musical depth. Every session works as a sonic postcard, capturing the rhythm, texture, and character of a place through elegant, immersive instrumental storytelling. The band is formed by five birds-musicians. Niro plays strings, moving between guitars, violin, oud, and mandolin. Kokocho anchors the sound on bass and double bass. Blitz shapes time through percussion, from jazz brushes to global hand drums. Aura brings melody and air with saxophones, clarinets, and regional flutes.
