Most screenwriters approach financing backwards and investors can smell it from a mile away. They lead with passion instead of packaging. They pitch before they're ready. They don't understand the actual money trail, so they waste years chasing the wrong people. Poya Shohani (Managing Partner & Co-Head of Investment at Black Deer Entertainment) reviews hundreds of projects. He knows exactly what separates fundable packages from pipe dreams. In this webinar, he's breaking down the real financing process, no sugarcoating. You'll discover: What actually needs to be in your package before serious investors take you seriously (hint: it's not just a great script) The main distribution routes, what sales agents actually do, and what drives real market interest Where film money really comes from (equity, debt, pre-sales, tax incentives), what a basic cap table looks like, and how recoupment logic determines who gets paid when The practical steps to move toward financing even without cast attached You'll walk away with: A "project readiness" checklist you can apply immediately Clear next steps for YOUR specific situation The common mistakes blocking your financing—and how to avoid them The bottom line: Passion doesn't finance films. Preparation does. This is how you get prepared. Stop wasting time chasing financing the wrong way. Reserve your spot now.
