The local buses will be running again as from Monday. This follows almost 10 days of industrial action by drivers, who are seeking better pay from the Government. In a statement from Unite the Union, it says the decision to resume the service has been made with the needs of the community in mind. The announcement follows a vote from Gibraltar Bus Company union members, in which drivers choose to return to work, despite no movement on pay claim negotiations. A Union representative said it understands the inconvenience that has been caused to people, explaining it was despite their best efforts that they had been unable to come to a resolution. The statement instead blamed a lack of 'meaningful engagement' by the Government. The spokesperson says its members remain fully committed to obtaining an agreement, whilst also balancing the desire to provide a reliable service to the community. Katy Docker reports.
