The CDR allows consumers to require a company such as their energy retailer to share their data with an accredited service provider. For example, an energy services comparison site might allow them to choose more tailored, competitive services. Consumers need to consent and authorise their data to be shared under the CDR. The Data Standards Body (DSB) develops the Consumer Data Standards (CDS) that underpin and enable the CDR. Banking sector standards are in place, and standards are under development for the energy sector. This video provides a general description of the CDR and the CDS, and documents DSB intentions for the energy standards. While this workshop has been developed in response to energy sector requests the workshop content will be applicable to the CDR as a whole and thus will be equally useful to participants new to the CDR from any sector.
