Pikeville is the county seat of Pike County, Kentucky, located in the far southeast of the state. It was hit particularly hard in February this year by floods, doing tens of millions in damages. Pikeville is also an area where a good deal of the Hatfields and McCoys saga took place. I had to include this unique mountain city on my grand Appalachian tour for a variety of reasons.
