UN chief appeals to Putin as Ukraine war resolution appears distant | ITV News

Tuesday was supposed to be a big day for diplomacy in trying to solve the Ukraine crisis. If anything, during the day, things only got worse. Approval, by the UK's armed forces minister, for Ukraine to attack targets behind Russian lines with weapons supplied by Britain prompted a threat by the Kremlin. It warned of an immediate proportional response if London provokes what it called the Kyiv regime. The Kremlin said that could mean long range missile strikes on targets in Kyiv and if representatives of Western countries were located there, so be it. If that sounded ominous, a mission to Moscow by the United Nations Secretary General yielded next to nothing.
