Updated DLR train fleet video: • Docklands Light Railway Train Fleet | Curr... Docklands Light Railway (DLR) current and future train fleet. This video shows the current and future rolling stock used on the DLR, the busiest light rail system in Great Britain located in London, England (Great Britain). The DLR operates services in east London around the docklands area. There are 5 main DLR routes however other services can operate if required due to all 5 routes sharing track at some point. The 5 main current DLR routes are Bank to Lewisham, Bank to Woolwich Arsenal, Tower Gateway to Beckton, Stratford to Canary Wharf and Stratford International to Woolwich Arsenal. Each route operates at frequencys ranging from 5-10 minutes off peak with combined sections having a train every few minutes. All DLR routes are fully automated although trains can be driven manually if required. The DLR is electrified and has standard gauge 1435mm track throughout. The DLR is currently in the process of ordering brand new trains to replace the oldest stock still in service and should enter passenger service around 2024. The current DLR train fleet all consist of 2 segment trains with 4 doors a side each. The older B90, B92 and B2K look similar in design, the B90 were originally introduced to replace the P stock which was unable to operate in the tunnel section to Bank. The B07 is a newer fleet of trains introduced as the network was expanded and these units are the largest fleet of DLR trains as well as the first to operate in 3 train formations. Currently all classes of DLR trains can operate in any formation up to 3 carriage (6 segment) trains and operate with other units of the same class. All DLR trains can be found operating on all routes. The B in their names was originally as they were allocated to Beckton depot (P for Poplar) but this means less now as all current trains are B and are split between Poplar and Beckton depots. The numbers on each class of train is the year with B90 being 1990, B92 being 1992, B2K being 2000 and B07 being 2007. The new rolling stock will be CAF built 5 segment fully walkthrough trains and will be similar in length to an existing 3 carriage train but with each segment being slightly longer. These units will feature tube style seating throughout with the exception of the front row of seats. These units will likley operate on the busiest routes to start with such as Bank to Lewisham and will allow the older B90, B92 and B2K stock to be replaced which will result in the DLR fleet consisting of B07 and the new trains. The new trains will also cater for rolling stock on any potential new extensions such as the proposed DLR extension to Thamesmead. All information in this video is correct as possible as of January 2022. #DLR #DocklandsLightRailway #TransportforLondon
