World AIDs Day is celebrated on 1st December each year. It is an opportunity to raise awareness about HIV as we work towards stopping new HIV transmissions. The day is also an opportunity to fight stigma and discrimination and acknowledge those who live with HIV and pay respect to those who have lost their lives to an advanced stage HIV related illness. This year the World Health Organisations theme ‘Take the Rights Path’ looks at protecting human rights. There has been substantial progress made in relation to the HIV response but still more to be done.
