#78 - Roof Off | A Productive Week on Our Barn Roof Restoration & Preparing for the End of Summer

Thanks to cooler summer days, it's been another super productive week here at Casa das Parreirinhas. Michael gets the new roof trusses fixed and cemented in place before starting work on the second half of the roof. He removes all of the old tiles and rafters, ready to start installing the new rustic timbers next week. In theory, the next stage should be quicker now he knows what he's doing... but, as we all know with old stone renovations, nothing is ever as straightforward as you might think! You'll also find us doing a bit of planting (Becci finally gets that bougainvillea she's been wanting!) and pottering around with the dogs and everyone's favourite talking cat, Tilly. About Us 🏚️👫🏼🐈🐕🐕 We're Michael & Becci (the humans) and Tilly (sassy English tortoiseshell cat), Alfie and Anoushka (Portuguese rescue dogs). After four years in Portugal and numerous dreams about renovating our own property, we've taken the plunge and are renovating a schist stone house and its outbuildings in Figueiró dos Vinhos. We're doing most of the work ourselves (or... Michael is!) and we'll be stepping back in time to create a character property with as many original features and antiques as possible.
